How to Use the Evidence Base



The evidence base allows you to filter your results by Study, Programme, Country, Direct Impact and Impact Category fields. It also allows you to search for specific studies, programmes and evidences.



1)First, you create a profile by clicking on the "Register" link on the top right corner of the home page. You will then see the fields below.

2) Once you hit submit, go back to the main page and click "Login" in the upper right hand corner. Enter your username and password.

3) Now you have several options. You can start by clicking the "Evidence" button on the top bar. Select "Sort" and "Programme," "Study," or "Direct Impact" to put the database in alphabetical order by development organization, the study title, or the intended impact.

Now you can narrow down this list of studies even further, down to specific study authors, countries, programmes, impacts, or impact category, by using the filters. Filters are the underlined buttons in the yellow bar. In the example below, I searched for the direct impact that social transfer programs had on food security. I brought up this list by clicking the "Direct Impact" button on the yellow bar. Note: You can select more than one category by holding the CTRL key and clicking on other categories.

You can click on the title of any study to see more about it. The results all contain a summary of the impact of the programme. Note: The study is also summarized in a bullet point on this list. See below:

4) You can also look through lists of the programmes and studies. To do so click on "Programme" or "Study" in the top blue bar.

You can then search through the results with the "Search" box in the upper right corner. Note: If no result is found, all the studies in the database will appear.

Once you have found the programme or study you are looking for, you can click on its underlined title to get more information.

If you want to start a new search, hit the "Reset" button at the top and then click "All." You can also just reset your search term by choosing "Reset" and then "Search."

5) If you are logged in, you also have the option adding your own evidence and adding comments. To add your own evidence, roll over "Evidence" and "Add." (Note: You must be logged in for this capability.)

If you are logged in, you can comment by clicking the green button on the right-hand side of the screen. You will get a comment form like below:
